KPV
A small peptide studied for calming inflammation, especially in the gut.
Three letters, one job.
KPV is the tail end of the α-MSH hormone, distilled to a three-amino-acid peptide that keeps the anti-inflammatory action without the pigmentation effects. Most interest sits in the gut.
At a glance
Where the research focuses.
Gut inflammation
Studied in colitis / IBD models for reducing intestinal inflammation.
Skin inflammation
Researched topically for inflammatory skin conditions.
General anti-inflammatory
Down-regulates inflammatory signalling broadly.
Recovery support
Paired with repair peptides for an anti-inflammatory angle.
Calming, without the colour.
KPV keeps α-MSH's anti-inflammatory signalling - dialling down NF-κB and inflammatory cytokines - but drops the pigmentation effect of the parent hormone.
Its stability and oral activity make it a frequent subject in gut-inflammation research.
Strength of the evidence.
- Anti-inflammatory mechanism (NF-κB) characterised
- α-MSH lineage well understood
- Colitis / IBD model data
- Topical anti-inflammatory studies
- Human efficacy and dosing
- Systemic recovery claims
How it works
NF-κB
Suppresses a master inflammatory signalling pathway.
CharacterisedCytokines
Lowers pro-inflammatory cytokine output.
PreclinicalGut barrier
Supports intestinal lining integrity in models.
Animal modelsOral activity
Retains activity by oral and topical routes.

Signs of a quality compound
KPV was removed from FDA Category 2 in April 2026 and is among the peptides under PCAC review in July 2026. It is not approved and is sold as a research material; evidence is largely preclinical.
